As social media websites develop to be more focused on the visual it is becoming increasingly important for companies marketing material to be aesthetically pleasing. An example of the importance of this for brands is when Facebook timeline was introduced. Visual content such as photos and videos saw a 65% increase in engagement. This technology is vital for a brand to get their message out there into the market. If people are not engaged in you marketing material it will not reach the target audience. Another important thing when considering visual content is the shift to more visual biased social media platforms. Instagram has recently reached 150 million users and tumblr reaching 50 million. These are two platforms that are solely focussed on visual content.

So how can you improve your visual content for social media? For medium to large businesses the answer could be as simple as employing or even contracting a graphic designer to help with the design process. For small business who may not have the resources to employ someone then it is a bit more difficult. Choosing the right images and creating collages is a simple way to make your content interesting.
