The more things change the more they stay the same.

This blog is about the field of digital marketing, a field where technology and software are constantly changing and where it is possible to promote a product or service directly to your target customers through many new marketing channels.  Technological and software advancements are being used to enhance and helping to create insights into customers through the ability to better track, monitor and analyse customer information.  These insights help to  drive engagement, build customer relationships, and maximize ROI are practices. These advancements began in the time of direct marketing and data base marketing, they are not new tools just new ways to use them.
I think that our job and the challenges we face as marketers has not changed with the rapid development of technology. In essence our job is the same, we are still story tellers who are trying to get consumers involved in our product. It is the way and means of communicating that story that is changing.
In addition, the tools that we have used in the past to tell these stories are even easier to use now, applications that utilse photos and video all can be used in the digital space very easily. This is discussed by Chief Executive of Marketing at Harvard Business School who discusses that although times and technologies are changing if we remember the core marketing skills and values we can use these new technologies to our benefit.
